I know I promised vids last time, but as it turns out, I haven’t been able to focus purely on battles. I didn’t really want to focus on maps until later, but I wanted to get the tutorial battles finished, and then I decided to get the scenarios implemented, and that meant working on Sapphire City. Hoo boy.
At first, I wanted to just do a 1:1 conversion. Having RPG Maker 2003 and VX Ace open at the same time, docked on opposite sides of the screen, was a major help. I heart my monitor so much.
As you can see, I decided to rearrange the city yet again. I think this time I ended up with something more organic than the old version.
I think most noticeable was how large I made the stage area. I may have overdone it.
World map… well, there’s always room for improvement.
I feel like there are both upgrades and downgrades in the new world map. The one change I’m happiest with was how the southern continent no longer has the shape of a chili pepper.
The new town tileset reminds me of Pokemon graphics. Random statement.
