.hack//Proximity v0.02 (104 MB)
Apoc Mirror
Okay, this is the newest .hack//Proximity build. In case you don’t know, .hack//Proximity is a visual novel reimagining of the original .hack games (INFECTION, MUTATION, OUTBREAK, AND QUARANTINE).
This build fixes some of the bugs in the previous build and adds some new features:
1. Tail Concerto scenario. Note that you cannot beat it. Its only real purpose is to showcase the character portraits we have available, highlighting the scaling issues that need fixing. It’s also to show my efforts in implementing different character variations. So you can choose any two party members and they’ll have their own lines, maybe interacting with other characters. In making this scenario, I used two different methods to pull off the branching: one method using lots of page threads and another using branches and labels. The end result is virtually identical. BTW, this won’t be in the final build.
2. Personal character info windows for every party member. What I have in the build is NOT their final form. It’s just to show what I’ve been able to pull off so far. Oh, the Aura window is centered instead of to the right like the others. I just wanted to see how it would look.
3. Now have Save, Load, and Return to Title buttons
4. Changed the music for fields and dungeons. Didn’t want to deal with changing the tracks and separate the normal and battle variants.
There’s still a lot of basic stuff we need to work on, and I’m not continuing on with the rest of the script until they’re done. These include portrait edits… Uh, wow… I don’t think there’s really anything else, actually. Well, I’m sure there’s also something involving variables and states that I’m forgetting.
Hope you enjoy the new changes. Make sure to offer some constructive criticism in the usual places.
