Once again, many thanks to Melissa Pagluica for taking up my commission. The file she sent me was 15 MB, and even after saving it as a PNG it only went down to 7, so I had to shrink it down a bit to post it up here. Once I’m back at my apartment, I’ll host the file so the original can be downloaded. I may just print me out a physical copy, if only I knew where and how I’d put it.
The composition is of course of Brier (with Arco), Coleen, and Avery around a campfire. I sent over detailed notes, so everyone is dressed the way they’re supposed to. Brier especially (since he’s the most prominent character in the piece) looks absolutely perfect.
I tried sketching out a few more of Coleen but when I placed her in I felt it changed the dynamic of the composition. I feel really strongly about the story being presented within this one, I was careful to show Coleen looking over her shoulder (to play with the idea that she is watching him – without realizing he is one she is looking for).
Since you can’t see Coleen and Avery as well in the main piece, I requested a separate sketch of them, which was provided surprisingly quickly at no extra cost.
Thank you so much for your patience with this project and I really hope you enjoy these two pieces. I was pretty excited with how the trees came out and framed the scene of the group having a campfire. I tried to capture a moment where it felt like the main character wanted to be alone, sort of a way to build a mood with the piece.
Very pleased with how this endeavor turned out.
They look great! I like Avery’s goggles for some reason.
I’m gonna be honest, I can see why you’d consider having the campfire scene printed.
