Let’s Play: The Legend of Korra (Chapter 3)

Looks like the video quality is better now (yay, level up!) and I’m getting a bit better with audio balancing.  Speaking of audio, holy crap, why is there a different Jinora?

Today I learned that the “B” button is the right face button, and not the top one like I assumed.  Whoops.  That probably would’ve made things easier early on.

Summary

Korra arrives in Air Temple Island, but no one’s home.  At least, no one except an astral projection of Jinora.  Or someone posing as Jinora.  It’s honestly too early to tell.  “Jinora” tells Korra that spirit water might help, so Korra sets to smashing jars until she finds some.  But she’s hindered by chi-blockers, who have inexplicably arrived ahead of her.  After restoring her Waterbending, Korra ventures further into the island and comes across the Triad, who seem to have forged an alliance with the chi-blockers.

Thoughts

We still don’t have an inkling of the enemy’s motivations, and it seems the game was written specifically to keep most of the cast away purely out of convenience.

The difficulty took a steep spike in this chapter.  It seems just when you finally get used to countering, in comes an enemy that can’t be countered, and takes out half your health in a single combo.  That’s just cheap.  Of course, you’re free to use your shop items to make battles easier, but that would mean justifying the item shop’s existence, and I just can’t do that.
