So… yeah, this chapter sure took a long time. It was considerably more difficult to deal with than Chapter 3.
Page 28… oh gawd, why was that so difficult? I could figure out individual pieces of what Lyle was asking, and based on context I think I came up with the right callback, but I for the life of me couldn’t understand Ihrie’s reaction at all. I had to resort to a relatively literal translation because… it’s better than nothing.
The Spanish translation got a lot wrong, too. There were a lot of moments where I went “That… doesn’t sound right.” Then I went and did a Japanese translation and it was almost word for word the same as the ADV translation in the episode this chapter was based on. To be fair, quite a few problems with the Spanish translation wasn’t so much the translation as it was failings with the machine translators I used. Three different translators and not one of them figured out that “raro” meant “strange” instead of “rare.”
Well, at least I finally finished scanning everything from this volume and can put it to rest. Just the Special Plus chapters left to go…
In other Ruin Explorers news, I just picked up the fourth Audio Drama. I have no idea what’s going on in it, and I was kinda hoping there would be a script in the insert booklet that I could translate. No such luck. What it does have is a massive wall of text for liner notes, plus some neat sketches, including one of Meria for some reason (as far as I can tell, she isn’t even in any of the Drama CDs).
