Friendship Friday! Princess Spike

Oh hey, is it Friendship Friday already?

Well, we’re back to more standard fare.  And as usual, the fandom hates Spike episodes.  Buncha whiners.

MLP-EpisodeReview

Princess Twilight Sparkle spent all night planning the friendship summit at Canterlot, but now she’s too tired to take part in it and needs a good rest.  Princess Cadance tells Spike to make sure Twilight isn’t disturbed.

Well, at least she isn’t Pancake.

The best way to fend off all the delegates wanting to speak with Twilight seems to be to order them around in the name of Twilight.  Rather than use this to simplify his duty, Spike decides to abuse this to his best ability.

Spike: Element of Greed and Deception.

Spike’s decisions don’t really solve any real problems, however, and predictably, his bad decisions snowball and blow up in his face, this time in the form of a water main rupturing and flooding a hall.

I don’t care what anyone says; this is a classic gag.

Twilight wakes up, Spike owns up to what he did and apologizes, everyone forgives him after they come together to rebuild a statue (long story), and we end with Spike about to sneeze and destroy the statue again.

Overall, pretty mediocre episode.  Most Spike episodes tend to be at around that level.  It’s just not possible to make a really good Spike episode.  Hopefully I’ll be surprised regarding this one day.  But not today.

MLP-MemeOfTheWeekThis wasn’t a very strong episode, meme-wise.  Interestingly, we did get a pretty decent meme that just didn’t get all that much support.  By default, our Meme of the Week is Spike’s Telescope.

Yeah, not much when it comes to quantity.  Quality-wise, not that good either… except for this fantastic submission by the great and powerful Superedit:

This is the greatest thing Superedit has ever done… and that’s saying A LOT.

Surprisingly, Princess Luna was in this episode.  We’re on a streak!  So again, it’s a battle for #2, and I choose…

Quiet Gestures!

It’s Mime Time.

Predictably, people have wondered if she’s Scootaloo’s mother, based purely on her fur and mane color scheme.  Hey, I’ve heard worse theories.

MLP-FanArtoftwBryantcore gives us “Mario Tries To Save The Princess.”

Wait, then who was breathing fire at me?

Sometimes it’s the simple jokes that bring us the most joy.

MLP-LookingForward

In the next episode, “Party Pooped,” it’s up to Pinkie to save the day when a friendship summit goes awry after some yaks show up.

Potential racism episode?  LOL, that ain’t happening.  The Zecora episodes the closest we’re ever gonna get, especially after the Griffon episode.  But hey, maybe I’ll be surprised.
