Will I ever get around to Rance posts again? Yeah… but I wouldn’t count on it anytime soon. Especially since I’m still doing Ruin Explorers scans AND picked up the Vamoe Guardian Lucia project again.
This week, we’re looking at Pop Chaser, which is another great and memorable episode, at least by my standards. Believe me, we’re eventually going to get to the really forgettable stuff.
We begin the episode with… futuristicish motorcycling. It was big in the 80’s. Don’t question it.
Our mysterious biker chick is the tough Ryou.
I’m sure you know the old story. A mysterious loner rolls into town looking for a place to rest. She walks into the nearest bar, and it turns out to be a Sailor Fuku bar. Wait, what?
We’re also introduced to one of the waitresses, Mai. She’s obviously going to be important, so let’s just accept that and move on.
We also learn that the reason the bar is the only saloon and inn in town is because of a gang led by a criminal named Zack. Later that night, Mai enters Ryou’s room and asks her to get rid of Zack’s gang, and she agrees.
Ryou turns Mai’s offer down, but Mai insists. It honestly takes very little effort to persuade Ryou to turn lesbian.
And I have to say, this is easily in the top 10 sex scenes in the entire history of Cream Lemon.
The next morning… the building blows up. Turns out Zack wasn’t sparing them at all; they were just the last on his list. The entire place gets wrecked and looted, and Mai gets kidnapped by Zack himself.
Zack’s gang has fun with all the booze and girls they stole, and Zack tries to have his way with Mai. In a classy way.
Mai resists Zack’s advances… somewhat… and they end up having crazy hot sex in his mech. Again, easily in the top 10 of Cream Lemon’s history.
They get interrupted when Ryou comes rolling in, blowing shit up.
Zack tries to counter-attack, but it turns out he never actually pulled out, and Mai literally serves as a sexy distraction.
During the chaos, the other bar girls get armed and beat off the gang members. Er… I mean they beat them up.
Ryou defeats everyone she comes across and “fights” with Zack (actually, the mech is controlled by Mai frantically grabbing at whatever). She spots its weak point and destroys the mech, completely unaware of what’s going on inside.
Mai climbs out of the rubble, surprised that Ryou is there. Then she announces she’s going to get married to Zack. Ryou does a faceplant, and we go to credits on a gag.
Just wow.
So yeah, that was Pop Chaser. There are very few comedic Cream Lemon stories out there, and even fewer of them are the total package Pop Chaser is. Off the top of my head, Narisu Scramble probably comes the closest. This episode is definitely on the shortlist if you want to see the best Cream Lemon has to offer.
