Episode 11: Doing it yourself! (10%)
Preview: Umbra arrives in Amethyst Town to take on the job of killing a Vampire Lord that’s taken up residence in an abandoned mansion. But not only are the villagers handing her over on a silver platter, but the vampire is someone from her past… Gald Soren, the demon that killed Umbra’s master and cursed her five years ago!
Amethyst Town
This was the last job on the list, and it couldn’t be any simpler.
Cynthia: There’s an annoying Vampire that’s recently shown up in the old mansion at the edge of town. Kill it.
Umbra: Sure thing! But, uh… why am I wearing this skimpy-looking outfit that doesn’t look like it’ll offer much protection?
Cynthia: Oh, that? That’s the same garment we have all the sacrificial maidens wear.
Umbra: Oh. Wait, WHAT?!
Cynthia: You see… the demon has a thing for young women, so if we send you like that, you’ll get in no problem.
Umbra: Why should that even be a problem? I just have to kill the guy, right?
Cynthia: Oh, I should probably mention the massive demon army at his disposal.
Umbra: Ya THINK?!
Okay, not so simple.
Episode is cut off here. Umbra is accepted into the mansion, and she slaughters the demons there. The leader of the group is the Vampire Diria, a female demon that has mastered the Dark Artes. The two fight in a magic battle that ends when Umbra risks everything to cast a Dark Magic spell of her own, fatally wounding Diria. However, the Vampire Lord, Gald Soren, appears. Angered at the death of his lover, Gald easily overpowers Umbra. He recognizes that Umbra is the girl he cursed years ago after killing her master and decides to spare her life so she can be enslaved by him. Umbra chooses death rather than to serve the object of her vengeance. Just as it seems she’s about to die, her ring glows with a faint, warm light… Lumen was close by!
Isn’t it a damn shame that this episode couldn’t be salvaged?
Yes.
